I'm deep diving into Save the Cat Strikes Back. In that research, I was having huge difficulties with the "fun and games" section. For some reason, I thought that section was supposed to be fun.
So, I put the book down, and Googled the crap out of the topic. Came across this nugget from Erik Bork (https://www.flyingwrestler.com/2017/12/fun-games-section/ ) where he points out:
"An audience loves to see the main character not succeed..."
The take away from this is, if you're following hero metamorphosis, in the "fun and games" section they are reacting to change in the same way they always have. And that way fails. Which means the lessons learned as they fail will help them succeed and ultimately triumph later.
